Imagine being a Buddha is like being a person which can perceive in three dimensions and beeing not enlightened is beiing a person which can only perceive in two dimensions. How do you (as a Buddha) describe a ball to an unenlightened beeing? You can say, the ball is not a circle, not a square, not a triangle and so forth (Rangtong) or you can say it is (like) a circle and has certain qualities, for example if you walk towards the end of the circle you arrive at your starting point (Shentong). The Rangtong explanation is the more correct one but it does´nt help at all, while the Shentong explanation is more didactic, though it is not quite correct. But what does "correct" mean? It means, that the explanation is in accordance with our logic. Since our logic is a mere experience-based concept, which describes experienced cause and effect-relations as laws, it is not valid to judge statements about the ultimate truth. The ultimate truth is beyond concepts and hence language cannot define it, so it´s not worth arguing about words. It´s all about experience, because the ultimate truth can be experienced, if we believe in the words of the buddha. But still one should keep in mind: a ball and a circle are not the same.kauaihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01978706420455799526noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-252930701556415948.post-28209448313084241772016-04-24T01:10:16.288-07:002016-04-24T01:10:16.288-07:00During the time of Lord Buddha, Nirvana means to a...During the time of Lord Buddha, Nirvana means to attained the true meaning of life, death, old age and rebirth but now there are more Buddhist tradition in the world, thus the meaning of Nirvana have changed according to knowledge of the principles of different Buddhist tradition.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-252930701556415948.post-64486712009306839892015-11-22T18:39:20.182-08:002015-11-22T18:39:20.182-08:00you wouldn't happen to have heard from or know...you wouldn't happen to have heard from or know the whereabouts of laurence in the last few months would you?

thankyou in advanceElijahhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16313152261671133821noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-252930701556415948.post-48029872530907483922015-02-13T00:16:34.612-08:002015-02-13T00:16:34.612-08:00Most people who take up meditation don’t last long...Most people who take up meditation don’t last long. The self-grasping mind. I learned from Henry Vyner that the healthy and happy human mind is an egoless mind. I now understand why doing things to make myself happy or satisfy my desires actually does not bring true happiness. On the contrary, it is a source of suffering because it is reinforcing the ego-centric mind.
